IGNOU MCA Eligibility

IGNOU provides more than one eligibility route for admission to the MCA programme.

  • BCA, Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering or an equivalent degree.
  • B.Sc., B.Com. or B.A. candidates with Mathematics at 10+2 level or graduation level may also be eligible, subject to the prescribed bridge courses.
Important: IGNOU states that students without Mathematics at 10+2 level or graduation level are not eligible for the ODL/Online MCA programme. Always verify your exact qualification on the official programme page before applying.

Bridge Courses for MCA

Candidates entering through the applicable non-computer graduate route may have to complete these bridge courses:

Course CodeCourse
MCS-201Programming in C and Python
MCS-208Data Structures and Algorithms

If a learner has already successfully completed one of the applicable IGNOU bridge courses, IGNOU states that only the remaining required bridge course needs to be completed.

IGNOU MCA Fees

The current programme fee listed by IGNOU is ₹13,000 per semester. Examination fees are separate and are charged according to the University’s applicable rules.

Where bridge courses are required, their fee is additional. Since university fees can be revised, use the official IGNOU programme page for the latest amount before making any payment.

IGNOU MCA Practical Courses

Practical work is an important part of the MCA programme. Laboratory courses are included across the first three semesters and cover areas such as web technologies, software engineering, networking, data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing and data science.

Students should follow the instructions provided for their particular lab course and study centre instead of relying on one common practical schedule for every learner.

IGNOU MCA Project – MCSP-232

MCSP-232 Project

Credits: 12   |   Semester: 4

The final MCA project is intended to give learners experience in developing a substantial software solution using software engineering principles and practices.

IGNOU expects the learner to work independently through important stages such as requirements, analysis, design, development, testing and documentation.

Do not treat the project as a normal theory assignment. Students should follow the official MCSP-232 project guidelines for topic selection, development and submission requirements.
